Wiring lights in parallel provides an even voltage distribution along the wire and all lights show the same brightness.
- In Parallel, all lights get the same voltage.
- Each light fixture wire only caries power to it's own light.
Series Wire Method
- Lights wired in series cause voltage drop and pass that drop to the next light in the series. Consecutive lights will show more dim than the previous and some may not come on at all.
- Light wires are smaller gauge and contribute even more voltage drop, compounding the series voltage drop affect for the next light.
- In series, the light fixture wire will have to carry power to all lights that follow. Beside not operating properly, series wiring will cause excess power consumption and premature bulb failure.
